Mk7 GTI with PP brake pad sensor

Ordered Hawk pads for my 2017 GTI SE that did not come with a sensor on a front pad. Do I need to order one or will it be fine without? I swap summer/winter wheels myself so I check the pad thickness twice per year.

Will the system know the sensor isn't connected?
