Converting Non linear Equations to Linear , Slope Intercept Form ( Y = MX + C)

Pre Calculus

So I converted y = Kx^2 + Px by dividing x. This gave me an answer of y/x = kx + p, where Y = y/x , M = k, X = x and C = p, in the slope intercept form, which is also the answer provided in the solutions.

I am wondering whether y/(x^2) = k + p/x is also acceptable where Y = y/(x^2), M= p, X = 1/x and C =k.

The rule of converting it says that variables can be grouped within variables, as in Y can be Y^2 or yx but constants must be separated from variables.

A little confused here. Please help.
