Boss PS-2 Potentiometer Issue

Hi everyone. I'm looking to pick your brains please before I get the soldering iron out.

I have a Boss PS-2 that's been sat in a drawer. When I tested it recently I was barely getting five audible repeats with the feedback knob at max. It was never one of the magic self oscillating models but something's not right. The level of the first repeat matches the dry signal with balance at noon, so it seems like a feedback issue, not a problem with level of wet signal.

When I test the feedback pot I get a reading of around 25k. The Boss schematic says it should be 50k. The pot itself is labelled 50k but I've tested repeatedly and get the same 25k reading. Weird. It's a digital delay and presumably the chip reads the pot value to set the FB level.

Before I jump to replacing the pot: Is there anything I'm missing? Do you think that the low pot value could account for the reduced feedback? And does anyone feel like opening their functioning PS2 up and comparing the pot value?
