Simple deck garden starter guide?

Hi experienced gardeners! I have experience with indoor plants but this summer I want to take advantage of my deck and plant some flowers and aromatic herbs. I'm a total noob with those.

I'd like to plant fragrant native flowers that pollinators enjoy, like honeysuckle.

What are my steps? When should I be planting?
