Are the remaining books going to follow the show's storyline?

On the beginning of season 7 rn and haven't read any of the books yet though I plan to. I was wondering though, I see people complaining a lot about the writer's writing in the 7th and 8th seasons. Which as I understand are the parts that don't have books written yet. Author has been writing the next installment for like 3 years at this point right? And I know the show has taken some liberties like perma killing Catelyn. Basically, I'm asking is there a chance I get to see Dany live in the books? 😭
