Frustrated with Recruiting Stations - Seeking OCS Advice
Hey r/ArmyOCS,
I'm reaching out to share my frustration with the local recruiting stations and to seek advice from those who have gone through the Army Officer Candidate School (OCS) process.
I hold two degrees with the following academic records:
Degree 1:
- 3.56 GPA
- High academic distinction
- Dean's list and President's award
- Letters of recommendation from professors
Degree 2:
- 3.52 GPA
- Cum laude
- Top 10% in class at a top 10 public school in the country
- Investigated, litigated, and triumphed in a case against the university senate.
- Letters of recommendation from professors
In addition to my academic achievements, I have an array of volunteer and leadership experiences:
- Phi Kappa Phi: Recognized for being in the top ten percent of seniors and graduate students. Invited and elected to the nation’s oldest, most selective, and prestigious all-discipline honor society chapter.
- Law and Honor Society: Actively participated in biweekly meetings with guest speakers from the criminal justice system, social events, and fundraisers.
- Phi Alpha Delta: Hosted and participated in several social functions each semester, monthly meetings, fundraising events, alumni networking events, and socials, as well as educational programming.
- Phi Theta Kappa: Contributed to the development of leadership and service, fostering an intellectual climate for the exchange of ideas and ideals.
- Law Enforcement Explorers Program: Engaged in law enforcement training, community service, and recreating programs. These programs built character, increased esteem, and taught citizen skills.
- Student Government Association: Played a pivotal role in generating campus activities, enhancing student life, and serving as a liaison between students, administration, faculty, and staff.
- Law Society Club: Took part in competitive trial simulations, contributing in various roles within the legal system.
On the personal front, I have no criminal history, no debt, and no medical issues.
Now, here's where my frustration kicks in. Local recruiting stations seem immediately keen on convincing me to go enlisted without even attempting to create an officer candidate packet for me. I believe my qualifications are well-suited for OCS, and I'm eager to explore that avenue.
I'm seeking advice from those who have navigated the OCS process or anyone with insights on how to approach this situation. Has anyone else experienced a similar roadblock with recruiting stations? How did you overcome it?
Any guidance or words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
