Can imbuing things with energy/intention/whatever go both ways to strip attachment?

Just wondering what the consensus (generally) is on imbuing physical things with energy/intention/spiritual power and how people work with those objects.

I'm also curious what everyone's thoughts also are on removing that energy. It seems like no one would argue with the idea that things which have been artificially imbued with energy (a cursed totem or a string blessed by the Dali Lama), but can things like hair or blood be "de-sanctified"?
