Incantation limit

It says that it increases the incantation limit by 1, but I have no idea what that is. Also, it says that if the character leaves the field the incantation limit is reduced, but this doesn't make any sense because it isn't possible for Vertin to leave the field because she isn't on the field to begin with. Is this card any good, or should I stick to the previous?
