Arkham City may win the ‘best story’ category but Arkham Origins comes close.

Unpopular opinion but I think the story in Arkham Origins rivals and in many aspects surpasses Arkham City’s story (in my opinion). The twist, is an excellent one, in my opinion rivaling City. Seeing the development and creation of Batman’s and Joker’s relationship pushes the already great narrative in an excellent direction. Not to mention the premise of a group of assassins for one night only, having the opportunity at hunting down the Batman is awesome. All this on top of the pretty standard yet excellently done ‘Batman learning to trust others trope’, combines into a really compelling narrative.

While I do love City, a lot of the narrative is spent finding McGuffin after McGuffin to drive the story forward. The best part of City, in my opinion which really gives the ‘best story’ is how they do the the Batman and Joker relationship, and more importantly how they end it.
