Beginning tips

A couple people I know are thinking about getting Rift Apart at some point, and I’m wanting to give them a list of tips to help them out a bit since they haven’t played games like Ratchet & Clank. Since they’re experienced gamers, I’m fine with giving them a bit more to work with. I was wondering if y’all could look it over and let me know what you think should be added or changed a bit. If you want to share this with people you know who are going to play the game the first time, or a first time player yourself, go for it. Now for the list:

Weapon variety: Use various weapons, not just one. Even though some weapons outclass others, they all have their uses

Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade: Upgrading weapons at the vendor is a must. Don’t just upgrade your favorite one. Spread the love as some weapons will help better in some situations than others.

Strafe jumping: Learn to get used to jumping while strafing. Being able to jump over enemy attacks, and enemies, will help you out with crowd control, and keeping enemies in front of you, instead of around you

Melee: Don’t forget to whack some enemies with your wrench/hammer. Even the big guys can get a little stunned when smacking them. Using your melee will help keep some of your ammo up, and will help out with the smallfry

Explore: Exploring can help you find important things to aid in upgrading your weapons, find useful gear, and weapon parts.

Double jump: Extra air time can mean course correction, or dodging certain things. Double jumping can also be a useful way to make safe landings over big jumps.

Shortcuts: If you’re able to remember them, then the directional pad shortcuts, and tapping the triangle button, or equivalent, can help you get the weapon or tool you need. putting support weapons in the shortcuts can be useful for crowd control, as well as quick swapping with what was last equipped

Backtracking: After getting a gadget to help explore, its wise to go back to planets you’ve already been on to explore and get whatever else you couldn’t on a first visit
