Wage Garnishment (OR)

I just got a notice of garnishment from an attorney sent to my employer from a judgement from 2017. I let this slide at the time because I lost both parents in one year, I know I should have responded to the suit at the time.

The total owed is $2500, and I don't have the ability to pay that right now but I could maybe pay half. However, garnishing 25% of my paycheck (taking about $800 a month in Oregon) would be extremely difficult as I am behind on property taxes and in danger of losing my home.

I've read that it can be dangerous to try to settle for a lower amount because the garnisher can just not remove the garnishment and take additional money, or they can get your bank account info and garnish your bank account instead. Is it worth it to try to settle the debt for less now?
