Chase sapphire reserve approval help
So, I am interested in eventually getting the chase sapphire reserve but I don’t think I’m a candidate yet. For the record:
- 744 credit score on Experian (FICO), 719 credit score on TransUnion and Equifax (VantageScore 3.0)
- I have only one credit card for rewards. Capital One savor one ($10,000 limit) Got it in June of 2023.
- I recently got a medical credit card, called care card. I haven’t used it yet but I will for my upcoming minor surgery. ($4,800 limit)
- I pay my balance in full and on time every month.
- I have student loan debt from law school (approx $140k) that I just started paying on time every month since forbearance is over.
- I currently make $80k a year.
I feel like my credit history is too new to apply for the reserve. I’m afraid of applying and getting denied and having the hard inquiry affect my credit score. So, I’m just wondering what I can do to improve my chances… whether it’s getting one of the lower tiered cards with chase, opening a checking/saving account with them, getting a credit card from a different bank, etc.
Ideally, I would’ve liked to have the reserve as my only card that I’m paying an annual fee for, but I’m not sure if I can do that just by going from my one credit card that I have now with Capital One, straight to the reserve.
Any suggestions? TIA!
