How to go about with a lateral move into cybersecurity in a big organization, having lots of other IT experience?
Maybe I'm phrasing the question wrong. But I'm a database admin with more than 15 years of experience, currently working in a bank. At some point I'm going to get bored of being a DBA. What are some areas of cybersecurity I should look into in the bank that 1) leverage my experience and 2) not involve a pay cut, or much of one if there is opportunity for growth?
I know cybersecurity is always looking for people, and I keep hearing stories about those new to IT suddenly starting cybersec and missing the basics that I've just picked up over the years passively. I may not be hardcore cybersecurity in the classic sense, but are there roles that are very adjacent that would be mentally stimulating?
