It just keeps getting worse
It feels like every week it’s a new symptom. The tremors in my hands started a while ago but they’ve gotten worse. A couple weeks ago I started experiencing sudden involuntary movements. Last week I began getting extremely ill every time I ate anything. Today my hands and feet have gone numb and tingly. I thought physical therapy had been helping but it seems to only have helped with the pain and weakness in one leg. I keep thinking I feel better but my legs still shake and I still need a cane for most trips out of the house. I don’t know what this is or what to do.
I went to the ER before some of the weirder symptoms started, they found I had two disc herniations but said that probably wasn’t causing my problems. I’ve seen multiple doctors who have brushed me off or told me my issues aren’t their job. I saw a neurologist yesterday who at least took me seriously and scheduled more tests but they aren’t until the end of February. I don’t know how much worse this can get by then. I’ve had an MRI of my brain a couple years ago. It was all clear. MRI of my leg was all clear. Blood tests are all clear. Had a nerve conduction study on one of my wrists. No carpal tunnel so they threw out their best guess even though I wasn’t given a chance to explain the symptoms I experienced and they didn’t even explain the diagnosis to me I had to look it up myself and it didn’t match my experience at all. I’m not normally one to not believe a diagnosis like that but I just knew this wasn’t right. I’m on medication that was supposed to help but it’s not. The only thing we’re certain about is that it seems to be neurological/nerve related.
I’m scared. It just keeps getting progressively worse and I’m scared of how much worse it could get. I’ve become extremely depressed because I’m too fatigued to leave the house for more than work or doctor’s appointments. I have a gut feeling that something is very wrong but it’s taking so long to find out what. I know is not the doctors fault that it takes so long for an open appointment but I’m scared that it won’t be until after something catastrophic happens that we finally find an answer. I just want to know how to treat it. I’m scared it will cause irreversible damage that could’ve been stopped if we caught it earlier. I’m just scared and all I can do is wait.
