What are your thoughts on doctors that leave medicine for healthcare private equity?
Talking about doctors who leave medicine (either before or after residency) for roles like
- healthcare private equity (e.g., founding partner of Consonance Capital and Chicago Pacific Founders are MDs)
- healthcare consulting (e.g., payer practice at McKinsey)
I have mixed feelings. On one hand, the rosy picture is that they're spreading their expertise outside of medicine, and some medical schools like Stanford seem to really take pride in these graduates. On the other hand...
Just curious the communities' thoughts
