r/coheed's Song of the Day #25: Crossing The Frame

Crossing The Frame is in my opinion, extremely underrated. It's short, sweet, and has a sorta positive chorus, which is not easy to find in Coheed songs, especially this album. Speaking of this album, one of the things I love about it is the similar tone the guitars have throughout the album. Most of the songs have these background parts that sound like they could have been in the other songs, and I absolutely adore that. Most of the verse guitars as well as the bridge guitar are what I'm referring to here.

The Fiction- Writer begins to parallel the two women in his head. Because Newo represents The Character’s (Claudio Kilgannon’s) past, Writer begins to resent both Erica and Newo, as does Claudio K. In the graphic novel, Writer and Claudio simultaneously picture a house with a light on in the upstairs window, presumably spying on their past loves, Erica and Newo, lamenting their lost relationships and convincing themselves there is no turning back. (songmeanings)

The Real- This is Claudio attempting to move on from Chondra. He's giving it up, it being his fight to get back with her. How important she could've been (and ends up being) to him.

The Part- The last Newo at the very end of the song is sung differently, and it's the part I wait for every time. Instead of "I'm giving it up Newhoaa", it's "I'm giving it up NewoOOO". <3
