Good idea to get a cat?

Hi all

I wanted some advice

I am renting a one bed and plan to be here for a long time unless the landlord ever raises the rent!

I really want to get a cat but I feel like this might be irresponsible, in case I ever have to move again and finding a place that accepts pets is always hard.

We had a family cat and I also took care of my landlord's cat in my previous place, so I'm very much a cat person.

Just wanted some thought from people who are renting who still have pets or decided against it and why that is?
