Fixing g402 loose scroll wheel

I was using my 3 yr ol g402 when suddenly the scroll wheel just became weird after i pressed it.
Its very loose now, like before the wheel moved in increments, now its just super smooth. It autoscrolls if i move the mouse too fast,and just rattles around.
Since its not in warranty, what should i do, can i repair it myself, or do i replace it
