Can you download new books on an old kindle?

Hello guys my kindle is the 7th generation from 2012 I think (not sure but pretty old). I wanted to download a new book which came out this year.

I bought it, but then when I want to download there’s always the message that I can’t download the book. Even tho I have good internet… Is my kindle too old for new books? It works super fine..
