What can I do as a cisgender women to help trans people? TW hate crimes
so, as the title says - I’m a cisgender women & I’m also 28.
the rise of anti trans rhetoric, the lynching of Nex Benedict, the laws being passed against trans people, the fact that there are political refugees who are trans running to my state (Connecticut), etc....is making me so sick. my heart is breaking for all these people who just want to authentically be themselves. I’m here because I’m asking what more I can do :
this is what I have been doing
- I am writing a novel with transgender representation. Where trans people are part of the main cast.
- helping out in comment sections to be a voice of support be it giving advice or pointing out the inherent fallacies in anti trans rhetoric
- I talk to people I know irl about these issues constantly and have been able to educate and change 2 minds.
- I support trans creators and artists by - buying their products, sharing links to their content, always commenting for the algorithm etc
- I sign petitions
I’m just not sure what else to do. There has to be something. I was thinking about making a YouTube but, I’m afraid of coming off like a “savior” (like the white savior complex some people have) I truly want too amplify the voices of trans people. I’m just not sure what else I can do to fight against this injustice.
