OK Noob question here. What is a tekkit server?

Most people from what Im seeing are switching over to FTB (http://feed-the-beast.com/) Its got Thaumcraft3, Tekkit, and about 250 other mods.. Very taxing on the computer but its awesome. If you watch the Yogscast guys its what theyre playing now

Tekkit isn't a mod in itself, btw.

The Mindcrack guys also have a FTB server, I think people like the FTB modpack more just because it is kept up to date more and got the modmakers permission.

Tekkit is the multiplayer version of the modpack known as Technic. Tekkit utilizes some very large mods such as industrialcraft, which utilizes electricity and machines, buildcraft, which uses kinetic energy as a power source to produce outward effects, and redpower which advances the capabilities of redstone through tools such as one block logic gates, and machines that interact with the environment in a more advanced way. There are a number of other mods that i will not go into, but these are three of the big ones.

Tekkit is a mod pack for Minecraft that adds different machines to the game. A Tekkit server just allows people playing Tekkit to play together. You can get more information here.
