902KC,VoLte and just a general insomnia rant.

I used the Red Pocket 5GB plan for about a month. So take everything I say here with a grain of salt because this is all anecdotal and my opinions could be wrong.

If this is your first 902KC Your SIM card is going to matter. If you can't get VoLTE to work you should try a different SIM from RedPocket (or Mint or any other T-Mobile MVNO). My first Redpocket SIM was a "260" (if you have a 902KC you will become pretty familiar with either the "260" or the "240" also it looks like RedPocket has a "280" these numbers are the MNC values you will see when you set up your APN it should be the three numbers after 8901 on your ICCID so 8901260 for example) and my phone was never able to have VoLTE (the little HD symbol )enabled regardless of what tip or trick I tried. This kind of matters since T-mobile is shutting dowin 2G in April 2024.

I tried calling Red Pocket Customer service to see what they could do and Holy Hell... I had a 2 hour wait was put on hold then the Agent hung up or got disconnected while I was on a hold again. I called again the next day and was told a ticket was opened and closed as my issue had been resolved lol. Eventually I noticed that alot of Red Pocket APN settings had the "240" MNC so I messaged the Red Pocket Mobile Ebay Account hoping they could pick out a 240 for me but no luck they had no idea what I was on about. I tried Red pocket Chat again and the agent told me that "240" was the new updated SIM type and that if I ordered a SIM via Redpocket Mobile he guaranteed it would be a 240. I went ahead and it took about 8 days but I did finally get my 240.

So even before I activated the new 240 Sim card i dialed "611' and saw that GORGEOUS BEAUTIFUL COVETED LOL HD SYMBOL! So about 99% of my calls where VoLTE calls and I didn't notice until MCDiamond9 mentioned that he believes VoLTE or rather IMS Registration is kind of random that some of my calls where dropping to 2G.

I AIN'T NEVER WON NOTHING IN MY LIFE

If you want to see your IMS status you have to sideload "QuickShortcutMaker" Then under "General Settings" scroll way way way down "com.android.settings/com.android.settings.RadioInfo" then hit "Menu" and select "IMS Service Status". But honestly it's way easier to dial "611" (any number will do but your friends will probably be upset if you call them a little under 1AM to check if your "Quirky Phone" is working properly) and check if your HD Symbol pops up.

THE PRECIOUS

I also got a Mint trial Sim from BestBuy for $2 and it was also a "240". Mint is a bit more time consuming to set up on these phones since you can only activate a Mint SIM via the Mint Mobile App. Coincidentally my mint SIM is also working with VoLTE. So no I'm going to try Mint for a while (3 month mininmum since they dont have a 1 month plans.) So far so good. Don't give up if you don't get VoLTE to work on your first shot and try another SIM. RedPocket sells them for $5 and Mint trial SIMs are $2.

tl;dr: 902KC good, fingers crossed for 2G shutdown.
