I find Dune 2 absolutely mediocre at best
Is something wrong with me? I find it utterly bland, the whole story goes along the lines of: Paul gets visions, he keeps saying the visions won't turn true, and then the visions turn true. These visions might as well call them spoilers. His mother, Jessica turns into an NPC with no personality once she drank the worm's blue blood besides the unfunny skits. It felt like nothing matters and the progression is just decided from the future visions we see, like characters lack free will. The CGI is stellar, it's one of the prettiest spectacles I have seen, but it's just all scaffolded on a weak premise. I never really got attached to any characters nor I got on the edge of my seat at any point. It's a mediocre prophecy story at best with random ass pulls like my grandpa's 97 atomic bombs nearby. And the relationship between Paul and Chani felt fake and artificial. Maybe I'm so desensitized to generic stories and simply wished for a plot twist at any point and while there was one small one (family relations) it wasn't really that exciting. If I were to rate it I'd give it 2/5 stars only for the action and CGI sequences but I don't really consider them much when it comes to deciding if I like a Movie or not.
