Context: I live in an apartment building on the top floor.

There’s a picture on my page of what my ceiling looked like before they took the plaster off.

Basically, we have had a leak, leaking from and around the “fan forced heater” in this picture. Every time it rains the heater drips water from the vent and the surrounding area.

My apartment buildings property manager is trying to tell me the leak is from “condensation”? Which is absolute bs. There’s a leak in the roof and they don’t wanna pay the big money to fix it. My heater doesn’t work because there’s water dripping though it, and it’s not caused by condensation because it only drips when it rains. I’m not stupid.

So from how it sounds they’re “repairing” it by taking down the wet plaster, then just “sealing” and re-plastering it to “fix” it. Which to me doesn’t sound right.. we need to know where the water is coming from in the first place in order to fix it, no? I wanna know what really needs done to fix this issue because I don’t want it coming back.

Also the heater in this picture is from the 1970’s. I know because I emailed the company for more info about it and that’s what they told me. I don’t think this heater should still be in use given the condition of it.

I don’t know much about this stuff so I need reddits help in getting the right information to have this fixed properly. We pay $1500/month to not have heat for 7 months because they want to cut corners.

I’m done with it.

NEED HELP! Apartment building trying to cut corners! How should this be repaired? (More info in description)
