I just graduated. Here's a bunch of stuff I know that you might find relevant. Oh, and ask me anything.

I initially wrote up a large amount of text, but I realized that it was pretty much turning into a mini life story. So, I decided to just compile a bunch of stuff, give a quick introduction, and open things up for people to ask questions so you don't get bored.

Here's some links to what I think are some of my most useful replies on Reddit:

I'm an international student who majored in Business Administration without an official option but took a good amount of Marketing classes. I just didn't want to take MKTG 460 - Marketing Research as I felt that it would be more beneficial for me to take another Marketing elective. I also got a Certificate of International Studies in Business (CISB) with a focus on the United Kingdom.

Before getting in the business school, I initially planned on getting a European Studies minor and a Germanics minor and intended on focusing on Germany for CISB. I studied abroad in Austria (Spring in Vienna Program) and completed the first class in the 2nd year series in addition to other cultural and historical classes. I later switched to the UK after my proposal got approved. The two minors were unfortunately dropped as I realized that I didn't have enough time for them, even if I was taking 18 or more credits every quarter. I initially did Entrepreneurship as my option, but later had General Business Administration option after the Business Growth option was removed while I was studying abroad in London (Independent Study Abroad at UCL). As for other departments, I took a bunch of Music and Astronomy courses.

Unlike most international students however, I did not experience any culture shock upon arrival and had no problem speaking in English. I even had to convince someone that I actually wasn't from here. So unfortunately, I can't give much assistance in those areas. However, I can answer a lot of other questions related to being an international student (and FIUTS).

Here are the areas that I would say I can give the best responses to other than the areas that I've already mentioned:

  • Being a musician
  • Summer Quarter
  • Networking
  • Random trivia about the campus
  • Course planning
  • Meeting people

Overall, my experience with the business school and UW as a whole was very positive. It was the best four years of my life so far, but I'll try my best to give honest responses.

My apologies if some of what I said comes off as being a braggart. Please call me out on it and suggest an alternative if you can. Oh, and if you or anyone you know wants a free private campus tour this week, let me know.

EDIT: It was brought to my attention that this was being shared. Thanks for sharing!

EDIT2: I'm now willing to answer employment-related questions for international students. However, note that whatever I say isn't legal advice - just advice from someone who's done a lot of research and had to help the company that wants to sponsor him through the process.
