Inspired by a post in r/Ontario, I calculated what the Carbon Tax cost me at the pumps in the last year
I was curious how much the carbon tax has actually cost me here in BC. Whether you're for or against the carbon tax, that data doesn't lie. The carbon tax cost me $230 for 20,000km of driving in one of the cities with the most expensive fuel in Canada. Had I been eligible for the BC carbon credits I'd be way ahead on carbon pricing. BC has an average driving distance of 13,100km, so it seems I'm in the above average range which would lead to believe the carbon tax would cost less for the average British Columbian.
Home heating with natural gas would also increase the amount of carbon tax paid, but I have electric.
