I’m losing weight but I’m also my hunger too? Good or bad sign?
So I think there are two factors at play here so I’ll go through each of them.
Firstly, I started getting into surfing. Most mornings when the weather and surf is good, I go surfing for at least an hour, sometimes two. I would go first thing in the morning and as I don’t like to eat before exercise, I wouldn’t eat until I got back. Originally, I would be very hungry… but now as I have gotten into the routine of surfing most mornings, my hunger isn’t kicking in until much later.
After surfing, I used to have my first meal at 11:30am, and that would be pushing it. But now, I’m not having my first meal until 2:30pm.
Secondly, my diet and calorie intake has changed a lot. I’m eating a lot more whole foods and not splurging as much on the sweet stuff for the past month. Plus, for the past week or so I have stopped having bread as much.
Here is what tomorrow’s food would look like for example:
Cooking Breakfast Snack: Small Banana 90cal | 1g Protein
Breakfast: Chicken Omlette with Mixed Veggies 550cal | 50g Protein
Snack: Yoghurt w/ Frozen Strawberries 366cal | 25g Protein
Dinner: Tuna & Veggie Wrap 468cal | 40g Protein
Dessert: Kinder Chocolate & Instant Latte 226cal | 4g Protein
So for the typical day, I would eat around 1800 calories, with 120g protein.
My breakfast is at 2:30pm and my dinner is at 7pm. I’m meant to have a snack in between but for the last few days I have been forgetting to, and find I only remember as I go to cook dinner. Then kind of have to squeeze in everything after dinner so I make sure I’m getting a good balance of food groups in for the day and protein.
Also, my details for reference: I am 177cm (5”10) female. I started at 73kg and have lost about 2kg in the past 3 weeks or so to bring me to 71kg. I aim to lose at least 3kgs more. I have also started doing some strength training a few days a week too in addition to surfing.
Now my question is whether my lack of hunger is a good sign? I feel like for as long as I can remember I have always felt hungry at some point during the day. Now, to clarify, this is a very physical thing. It feels like my body is forgetting to send me a signal that it should. But my appetite is still there in the sense that when I eat, I eattttt. But I’m just trying to understand what is going on with my body and if it is a normal response to my diet and activity level changes.
Any help appreciated! Thank you 🙏
