How long should I drive on the Spare or just use the old tire

So last week wednesday I hit a really bad pot hole near me, (like it was deep and i didn’t even see it because the road had no lights, i was going about 45) and it caused some pretty bad damage to my tires.

this pot hole caused the cap on my rim to come off and i went to the volkswagen dealership today to try to buy a new one, but when the guy looked at my car, he pointed out that my rim had a huge cut in it and both tires on the drivers side have small bubble on them.

they were saying if i hit even like another pot hole or a speed bump that my tire could pop and cause damage to my car (for reference i drive a 2014 volkswagen beetle) and potentially i could get hurt too, so i kind of panicked and got the donut spare put on the tire that had damage to the tire and rim.

i’m out of state for college so i go home in 4 weeks, and we are getting my car shipped home so it could wait but I am supposed to drive to LA next weekend which is 60 miles to and from my current location.

I inevitably will have to purchase a new rim and tires but my dad is being an ass and saying that i will have to wait until i come home, and not understanding the saftey risk (he is being no help basically) and i’m trying to explain that i can’t drive on the spare for long unless he can order the new rim to come to my location within the next 2-3 weeks, because when he comes in town he wants me to drive him 60-100 miles to see his friends and that is not doable in my tires current state

until then i can just stay on campus or if i do leave i only leave like 1-5 miles off campus for food/groceries.

when i go to LA do i risk using my old tire and rim that are still technically usable and just drive super careful and not over 65, or do i drive on the donut? the donut is super skinny compared to my other tires and from 2012, so i am leaning toward getting help in putting my old tire back on and just driving carefully.

i’m really lost on what to do so advice is helpful.
