Are you not curious about AI‘s future?
The generative AI projects are booming, attracting massive investments. Every couple of months, there's a new one, each seemingly more impressive than the last. Companies are beginning to integrate AI into their operations (or hype it up), and users are paying 'protection fees' to try out various AI-powered consumer products. It all seems dazzling and promising, but it's still unclear what the ultimate C-end market for AI entering daily life will look like.
In terms of current value flow, 'infrastructure' is where the real money lies; 'model suppliers' have yet to validate long-term sustainable profitability and business models, but computing power, talent, and first-mover advantages are the current moats; 'consumer-facing applications' don't seem to have competitive long-term business models, ultimately being somewhat mediocre tools, although some well-executed ones have plenty of people willing to pay to try them out for fear of missing out.
Infrastructure and large-model technologies have high requirements that are hard to grasp, so one can only experience various applications of generative AI, contributing a little financially to AI development. It's interesting, but just so-so, quite disruptive but still unclear how this disruption relates to the general public. What will the final penetration into daily life look like? Guess:
With the array of models and software available now, nurturing talent and experts, expanding and optimizing models, and increasing computing power to reduce costs. But relying solely on the combination of software and AI might not work.
Eventually, the hardware giants who truly understand AI or the rising stars in new hardware will integrate AI with hardware to empower software and reach the people. AI will become more widespread, further enhancing the convenience of life and making the world a better place. Moving closer to the imagined cyber world.
On the other hand, the exponential improvement in AI capabilities will bring unimaginable benefits to professional fields (fundamental sciences, medicine, biology, etc.), which I dare not even imagine.
The brightest minds are all pondering in this industry! Can't wait to see the real 'giants' take the stage!
