When did it sink in that you're better off than your parents?

All right, let's try to lighten this up. Because obviously not every boomer is rich, and not every millennial is broke.

So for those of you who had anything from a modest to downright poor upbringing, and are now flourishing, when did it hit that you're doing better than your parents ever were?
