Buying global stock market index tracker in Qatar

Hi all, after some advice please.

My pension back home is invested in a whole world cap-weighted stock market tracker, offered by the US company Vanguard. It's an entirely passive investment which just reflects the overall performance of the worlds stock markets.

Now I am earning QAR, it seems inefficient to transfer money back to another currency, just to re-invest it in something global like this.

I''m wondering if it's possible to execute the same strategy here in Qatar?

I'll probably ask my bank too, but am not sure how much to trust their advice yet.
