One Thousand One Hundred And Sixty-Fourth Night
Today did not go as I outlined it would yesterday. It turns out, the kitchen refurbishment had been rescheduled to to Thursday, Darling's birthday. The eclipse still occurred, though it was so cloudy, you could only get a few glimpses at it. The sun is shinning now. It's honestly a little strange to see it so bright this late in the evening. The sun should be half-set by now. That astonishes me more than the eclipse did, honestly.
Unfortunately, my writing didn't progress easily today. I just had a sliver of a scene left for chapter thirteen. A scant few paragraphs. Just a few final words. For hours, I just couldn't get it down right. I wrote quite a lot. I just delete even more. I finally found the right angle, kind of, after I fed the pets dinner. The chapter is finally, completely, wholeheartedly, done. I'm still not sure if i'm happy with those final few sentences. I don't feel like giving it a second reread.
I feel like I should keep writing. I should start the next chapter. All of the chapters so far seem to cap off at around 30 pages. Three's a pattern and if it persists, this book might end up being at around 740 pages. That is so many more pages than I was planning. How could I possibly hope to finish that by next October? If I think that far ahead, I'll paralyze myself so lets stop that train of thought here.
I'm both tired and restless. I'm not quite sure what to do with myself right now. I'll have to work on Darling's gift. I don't feel like doing that, but life s all about doing things you don't feel like doing.
Yours & Mine,
S.O. Skinner
