Breastfeeding taboo

General Discussion

In a recent family discussion it came up that my mom (convert not from Utah) was heavily mocked by my dad's Utah family for breastfeeding her children (early 90s). Apparently his mom told her breastfeeding was creepy and inappropriate and everyone of dad's gen was bottle-fed. For context this was very remote small town Utah. Anyone got any context to share for this? Could be isolated to the very weird family. (I learned there was quite a bit of sexual abuse in addition to physical abuse).
