Wind and walking in general messes up my hair

Hi reddit, this (or was, rather) my hair until I got it cut. It's now shorter on the sides than it was previously but I still style it the same. Every morning once I get out of the shower and get dressed I apply American Crew forming cream to my hair, followed by a blow dry which I use to get the bangs up. Then I apply American Crew fiber to style it. That's worked for a while, but now that it's really windy outside, small clumps of my hair are falling down in the bangs and it looks really stupid.

To give you information on my hair, it's very thick and very straight. The straightness is why it looks bad when messed up. The thickness is why it's hard to get it to stay in general. Do you have any recommendations for stronger products or a different technique to get my hair to stay in place while not sacrificing the matte texture it currently has?
