Does the US currently generate enough additional energy to accommodate the additional users and increased demands on energy consumption each year?

I understand there are so many variables to this question (new users (babies born - deaths) increase use of technology, increased energy efficiency, young adults living at home longer, cohabitation increasing, etc), but does anyone know the statistics of increased energy consumption versus increase energy production?
