Options for Drum Brains

I have an Ion kit and the standard drum brain that went with it for 360. I've been having issues with a couple of my cymbals/pads lately and I was wondering: Would it be a worthwhile investment to grab the Madcatz MIDI brain to connect it to my (wonderfully) functioning drum brain?

I ask this because the midi drum brain is only 20$ on sale right now so it wouldn't be too much; and I was wondering if this would help with some of my sensitivity issues with the stock drum brain. When I plug my kit into the midi brain I have NO issues with sensitivity (on pads AND cymbals) but my blue cymbal AND pad have complete shit sensitivity in rockband and rarely work.

Would this be a good avenue to explore for future rockband drummage?

(Also; unless I'm mistaken, this would prevent me from needing a kickbox for rockband, ya? Since it just takes all the midi output signal from the brain itself?)
