Shaving Cabinet

Hello again wicked edge. I have recently gotten into shaving with a DE and i love it; the only problem however is keeping my sink tidy. I'd like to make a shaving cabinet or shelves that can just sit on my sink counter, maybe two or three shelves with slots for my brush and razor. My question is what type of wood would be best suited for this and has anyone had some experience building their own? Once again thanks for the help!
