How do I kill mold growing under my roof sheathing?
Hey everybody. I bought this old (1920's) Craftsman style bungalow last year and I wanted to add insulation in my attic. I decided I'm going to do blown in insulation but first I need to remove an old finish job someone did in the early 90's. I knew before I started that I also wanted to add some ventilation because there is none and for some reason whoever put the exhaust fan in the bathroom never bothered to actually exhaust the fan outside. So to the point... I am tearing out the drywall and insulation today and discover that between each roof joist where the insulation was the sheathing is caked in mold. the sheathing was also damp, but it doesn't look like the roof is leaking just from the built up humidity getting trapped by the insulation. Oh god I did it again... my point is how do I kill this mold so it doesn't spread before I add ventilation and do the blown in insulation later?
Help me kill mold without using fire!
