I've started a 1999 run for the achievement, what can I do now to prepare for later on?

If anyone's interested, have a link to the LP

Obviously the beginning of the game is a lot easier than the end, so is there anything I could do in preparation for later on?

For example;

• What Should I spend coins on?
• What weapons are preferred?
