AoE II HD won't start.

Bought my 1st game on steam today and downloaded it and clicked on play. This brings up a little box that says 'Performing first time set up.... Installing: Microsoft VC Redist package (step 1 of 3)" Here is the problem I have being looking at this little box for the last few hours. What do I have to do to actually play the game? I reset my steam and my computer to avail.
