Odd food

So went for my first takeaway since moving up to scotland. Ordered a cheese burger and chips. Got home and unwrapped it. No cheese burger, but some sort of battered burger pattie deep fried and filled with what I assume was supposed to be some sort of cheese sauce.

Is this a thing? Was the guy mad, or was that actually supposed to be there? Is this Scottish cuisine at its finest, or was someone having a laugh at my expense? I don't understand.

Still ate it, but only because om drunk.
