Why does Reddit hate Reddit?
It seems like every thread in every post devolves into phrases like "typical Redditor", "that's because Reddit thinks...", and "the hivemind" being slung around by people desperate to show that they're definitely not the average Redditor. This even extends to subreddits, most notably r/atheism. Find a front page r/atheism post where none of the top comments are blatantly anti-r/atheism and I'll eat my dog.
Sure, a lot of juvenile stuff rises to the top of the default subreddits. Reddit is an enormous community. You'd have to be embarrassingly out of phase with society to not expect something like that in ANY community this large. So why hate on something you're clearly a part of? For the karma? Because irony is trendy and psychologically self-satisfying?
I love this website. There's a lot of interesting content shared which facilitates a lot of interesting conversation that I know I wouldn't experience anywhere else. Quit clogging it up with your self-hate and circlejerks and anti-circlejerks and anti-anti-circlejerks and maybe there'll be room for more great content for you to hate.
