Advice needed pertaining to software

Hey guys, I just found this subreddit and it seems like a great community! My question, put shortly is this: what animation software do you recommend for 2D digital animation focusing on character animation, rigging, and landscapes/backgrounds. I've been experimenting with flash and photoshop animating for years and photoshop just doesn't cut it at all for me and I really don't like Flash's character rigging and landscaping abilities. Some of my inspirations are Hayao Miyazaki and my art style is roughly similar to that seen in spirited away. I am pretty strong in 3D modeling and animation but recently I've been feeling that I want to devote more time to 2D. I've been recommended TVpaint and ToonBoom but I don't love the vector look of ToonBoom. I completely understand that it's about "what you do with the tool, not the tool that you use", but I'm going for a more traditional animation look and feel to my work. Thanks.

TLDR-what animation software do you recommend for creating traditional looking animation?
