Electrical problems 2005 GSXR600

Hey guys A club at my college is using a GSXR600 engine, wiring, and radiator to build a mini formula one car. Unfortunately we are experiencing electrical issues, specifically in the fuel system. When we turn the bike on we either get no power to the fuel system (both injectors and fuel pump) or we get power for ~5 seconds to those systems then it dies. Could this be the fuel pump relay that is bad? Any ideas would be helpfull at this point. Thanks
