AMA Request: Daniel Tammet

Daniel Tammet is an autistic savant (think Kim Peek aka Rain Man) and was diagnosed to have synaethesia as well.

Many people have studied him and there are mixed feelings about exactly what his "abilities" are. Popular opinion is that he was born with an abnormal brain that allows him to make calculations and retain information much differently than an average person. Skeptics say he's just very good at training his brain for those sorts of things, and that his brain works no different from an average one.
