What are your suggestions for getting into this?

I have ~6 games under my belt, all with my friend's deck. It seems amazing and awesome and the strategy, oh lord the strategy, it's all amazing. The main problem I have though is getting started, where do I start? It's already overwhelming through the customization, but I can do that in short bursts AFTER I get started. Oh great MTG redditors, please advise me!
