Handling groups of people? [FR]

Field Report

So I felt tired last night, but still, I drank some coffee, had a shot of rum and drove out to a bar I like. I started by playing pool with someone. I'm very inconsistent at it - I'm sometimes on a good streak, but when I'm bad, it's.. not good to look at. But I enjoy the game, still, and I like meeting people through it.

So I was playing with this 1 guy, and 2 others joined me. I had 2 beers and had been playing/talking for about an hour. Finally, all 3 people had to leave/had other plans. I went up to a bar and lo and behold, a very friendly girl was getting a drink there. Let's call her 'A'. I'm pretty sure she was the one that chatted me up. I'd say she was a 7 or a high 6 - bangable by the standards of the area. Either way, she was very casual, very friendly, pointed me to where her friends were, so I thought "great, I'll get to play with 'A' and get to know her and not be by myself."

But she asked to see if I can get a pool table while she catches up with a friend(s). I got the table easily and I went to where she was. She introduced me to her much cuter friend, "B" and I still thought everything was great. But they decided that 'B' was gonna play, too, and will get a guy friend on her team. So I think the 3 of them followed me to the pool table. It was getting crowded already. Then 3 more people from the group showed up. And 'A' is introducing me to all of them. 1 of them was a guy, who was with girl 'D', and then there was girl 'C'. Both girls were cute (!), but only 'D' of all 4 of was clearly steady with her guy.

Anyway, I rack them and someone breaks. 'A' and 'B' are talking to me quite a bit (and among themselves). I think I took a caffeine pill at this point. But I'm on my 3rd beer and I'm feeling tired. They all really seem like me. 'A' and 'B' asking me where I'm from, what I do. All while I'm starting to really suck at pool. I don't know if I sank a single one the entire game. 'B' takes a unique interest in me, while I'm talking to 'C' when I'm not playing. I particularly like 'B', but 'C' is really cute, too. All the while, 'A' really likes me. She touched me a bunch of times during the game. But I suspect she got annoyed cause I was really sucking at pool and not really talking to her much. But then there were so goddamn many of them and they were chatting amongst themselves, too. It was crowded..

'B' and 'C' were talking about how the group was going to a cheap restaurant nearby. 'B' kind of invited me to come along. This was probably when I should have parted with them, but ehh. Anyway, the girls when to do their girl things and finally came back 10 minutes later while I talked to this one guy 'E' from the group. Finally, when the group was about to get leave, I ran into 'A' who said 'well, it was really nice to meet you', meaning 'bye', but I said 'oh, I think I've been invited to come along'. I didn't mention that it was by 'B', but maybe it was implicit.

Anyway, we go to the restaurant and we eat.. and part. But, again, 'B' was kind of making a little bit of small talk from across the table, while I was sitting next to 'C', who mostly fancied guy 'F'. I joined in the group's conversation here and there, where possible, and had some decent times, but I felt like an outsider. When we were close to leaving, I asked 'A' if she came often to the bar where I ran into her. She said no, then I got her number. Guy 'F' complimented on my smoothness and then made a joke that she gave me a fake number. But I can't know if it was a joke or not.. because I texted 'A' and I don't think she got it, nor was she interested in checking her phone for it. She told me to text her again because her phone was 'acting up'. I texted her again today, but no response, of course.

Anyway, I'm not exactly experiencing oneitis here because I'm not even sure which of the girls I liked the most. I think it was 'B', but I didn't see a way to get her number throughout the night, especially since she was seated further away. I also get the idea that I should have been a lot warmer to 'A', but I think I was just too damn tired for all of it. I probably should not have joined the group for the late night meal at all. I think Roosh V makes the good point that if girls are going to eat greasy food, then the night won't end up with an f-close anyway.

This is really an interesting and an unusual scenario for me. I'm really just not used to so much attention. I can handle 1-3 people alright, but this whole thing of 7 people who knew each other and me getting so much attention, I can't say I did too well with it.

Those girls really seemed to like me, while the guys in the group were super casual, were not AMOG'ing at all, and guy 'E', who was hanging around 'B' a lot was just a bit less of an outsider than me (but still knew them better). I feel like social proof was hugely at work here, with 'A' giving me a lot of it by introducing me to everyone. I also feel that I'm good looking, because I can't explain why else cute girls would show interest in me when I'm so passive. And I don't like to be super passive. I like to be the bundle of energy people gravitate towards. I feel like if I was on some uppers, I could have done a lot better, been a lot more charming. But that has its downsides, too. Either that or I guess I need to have had a really good night's sleep before going out? Or maybe I should just skip the 1 hour of casual pool games with guys before it becomes easier to talk to girls? Just go into the bar full force, get my drink while chatting girls up in the line? The reason why I really like the whole pool approach is because I get to talk to people at the pool table, which establishes a home base of sorts for me. Since I don't have a wingman, this is the least I can do to look less awkward in the bar. That and the fact that I get numerous chances to go up to the bar and talk to girls that are in the line.

Ok, time to stop rambling about last night. I will just say this - I don't really use routines. I just go up and ask people what they're up to or what drinks they're having and that's how I start up a conversation. In fact, I'm more and more starting to resent the idea of lying to other people in any way or form. I'm not that great at it, either. So 'my girlsfriend's sister's dogsitter's [insert drama]' approach is not for me.

Thoughts?
