Was there a "General Crisis" in Europe in the 17th century?

I'm in a class this semester on 17th century Europe and we're talking about how debated this question is. I'm really not 100% in either camp because I'm still pretty shaky on the specifics of most of the revolts and wars, but I was wondering AskHistorians feels on the subject.

If I had to pick a side, I'd say yes because the simple fact of the matter is there were wars and revolts happening every which way! They may not be related or even only tangentially in a way, but they happened in close proximity regardless. I'm majoring in special education and history so the teacher in me knows that people tend to act how they are expected to act or how society acts around them, so I'm curious how aware of all these troubles various Europeans would be and if they would help kind spark off each other. Thoughts?
