Need help finding good tutorials/tips to make a mayan-style hammock.

I'm interested in making a nylon hammock as a father's day gift to my dad and haven't been able to find any good resources for building the weave, where to get materials, technique, overall cost, and how to calculate for how big I need to make it (my dad is 6 foot 3 and I want the hammock to be able to support 300 pounds at least). Any help would be appreciated.
