Regarding recent Buttercoin-related scam attempts
The Buttercoin project has gained a lot of positive attention in a very short time.
We wish to thank the entire community for your ideas, contributions, donations, enthusiasm and kind words.
Due to the amount of attention the project has received, it seems that certain unknown individuals/groups have tried to receive bitcoins from different members of the online community while pretending to officially represent the Buttercoin project - without our permission.
Incident 1: A fake Bitcoinstarter was created earlier today, in the name of the Buttercoin project, in order to receive donations to a bitcoin address not related to us in any way.
It was intercepted and taken down before it went "live".
Incident 2: Two reddit posts (here and here), as well a 4chan post, was created earlier today and yesterday - and someone tried to receive bitcoin donations pretending to represent the Buttercoin project.
The bitcoin address listed in these posts are in no way related to us.
A reddit post regarding these incidents is available here.
Some solid information for you all:
-
Every new site we launch will be linked and authenticated primarily through this official subreddit - and later on from other sites in our cluster - as presented in our subreddit sidebar.
-
There is only one (1) bitcoin donation address belonging to the Buttercoin project, and that is:
1McqPj92jvWfFg5F24dwyDSUptjTosH2EY -
The original and authentic post (by Paul Bohm) is, and always has been, this.
-
The reddit account belonging to Paul Bohm is enki23 - NOT enki24
-
We will not seek community support using 4chan.
Feel free to step by our IRC if you wish to contribute in any way.
Thank you all very much for your time and support!
